It’s that time again… Halloween!
With the big night just around the corner, I started dreaming up easy makeup ideas that don’t require a professional artist.
If you’d rather skip the intense gore this year for something a little more glam, I’ve rounded up some amazing inspiration. These are perfect for looking festive without a ton of effort.
1. Simple Cat Makeup
Source: @missj15
While we’re talking about getting that perfect kitten-flick, which is honestly so important for these easy Halloween looks because there are a ton of cat-eyes, a spoon might just become your new best friend.
Getting eyeliner right is tough. Making sure both eyes match is just as hard. You need a tool to get things even, and a teaspoon is the perfect solution.
You can use the spoon’s handle for a straight line to nail those kitten flicks, and the curved part is just right for helping you shape the rest. Plus, holding the spoon under your bottom lashes stops mascara from getting everywhere.
Who knew all you needed was a spoon?
2. Glam and Elegant Skeleton Makeup
Source: @beautybymsh
This next makeup concept is a personal favorite! What we have here is some glam and elegant skeleton makeup. The artist created a gorgeous eye look and went with a classic skeleton design.
Since the makeup is white, it gives off a more chic and ghostly vibe. The whole look is finished off with pearls and flowers. Makeup like this is perfect for a party or for a Halloween night out on the town.
3. Pretty Cat Makeup
Source: @alvajay
You might not get the link between Halloween and black cats, but it’s because witches are spooky, and witches frequently have black cats. See the connection now? In the middle ages, cats were first linked with their witchy companions, and a lot of them were culled.
This happened around the same time as the Black Plague. Unfortunately, getting rid of these kitties was a bad move for humanity.
Rats spread the black plague, and the cats would have caught the rats. Whoops. You see, we know we should honor cats, which is why we’re loving these simple Halloween makeup ideas.
4. Beautiful Sugar Skull Inspired Makeup
Source: @makeupbyjanetcobian
Up next, we have another sugar skull makeup look. This one is absolutely beautiful and features a chic white, black, and red design. Her eye makeup is also super glam.
A look like this is perfect for anyone who wants to appear spooky for Halloween but also gorgeous for a party. Try to wear a similar floral headband to this one.
You can find them online, or if you enjoy crafts, you could make one yourself.
5. Deer
Source: @sarahd_makeupartist
Hunting is a major topic these days, and I’ve seen a few hunting-themed costumes that I would love to rock for Halloween.
You can bet there will be a hunter at the party somewhere, and even if there isn’t, you can just call it a successful night. Besides, this deer-themed makeup is everything at the moment, and we’re looking for any reason to try it out.
6. Sugar Skull
Source: @jordzcrazymakeup
The sugar skull or Day of the Dead look has gotten really popular in recent years, and this one is just an adorable take.
It’s pretty in pink and embellished with all things pink, shiny, and wonderful. It manages to be scary and cute all at once.
With the help of some pink eyeliner, it’s just a matter of adding hearts to the face, surrounding them with gems, and making your eyebrows match the rest of the look, which in this case is a beautiful pink shade.
You could even change this up with different pastel colors to match your outfit, like greens, blues, or lilacs.
7. Cheetah Makeup
Source: @beautylish
Here’s a smart trick if you’re planning to use a lot of eyeliner: you can turn a pencil eyeliner into a gel eyeliner with a lighter. Just hold the pencil tip over the flame for a couple of seconds, and when you use it, it’ll be softer and more gel-like than a hard pencil.
8. Unique and Creative Makeup
Source: @cfandino
This next look is absolutely perfect for those who are obsessed with all things Halloween. The design incorporates all the Halloween classics, including a full moon, pumpkins, bats, and spider webs.
It’s such a creative and unique concept. I love this, and it will look amazing on everyone. You can recreate the full look, or you can try just one or two of the designs.
9. Sexy Fortune Teller
Source: @bybrookelle
The fortune teller isn’t a super common costume you’d think of for Halloween, but in a world where every other costume is taken, you have to start thinking creatively.
If you wanted to tie this into Halloween a bit more, and you just so happen to have a fortune teller or belly-dancing outfit in your costume box, make it a zombie-style look.
Add some graphic and zombie makeup, mostly black and white, and you might just have a costume that could sweep all the contests.
10. Pretty Fairy
Source: @drawingupbeauty
It’s giving fairy from a sci-fi movie vibes, and that makes it a brilliant concept for a pretty and easy Halloween look. That pink and golden-yellow glow is simple to recreate with the right makeup shades and some clever blending.
I especially love those long, dramatic lashes. Halloween is the ideal time to experiment with looks you’d never be bold or brave enough to try otherwise, and I think this is the cutest and prettiest one to start with.
11. Magical Unicorn Makeup Idea
Source: @anshelicious
If scary makeup isn’t really your thing, then you could try a more magical look like this one. Here we have some beautiful unicorn makeup. Her look is colorful, sparkly, and is topped off with a unicorn horn.
Makeup like this is so easy to pull off. You can recreate this or attempt a simpler version without all the glitter. Unicorn horn headbands can be purchased online.
12. Easy Last-Minute Makeup Look
Source: @viva_glam_kay
You know all those darker shades in your contour palette that you never get a chance to use because they’re just too dark for your skin? Well, now you have the perfect chance to use them with this glorious feline look.
The cat is the clear winner when you’re searching for pretty and easy Halloween makeup, and it’s not hard to see why. Everything is super simple as long as you have a steady hand.
It’s just a matter of adding a black top lip, a black nose-tip, and kitty-shaped black eyes before you apply the finishing touches, the whiskers.
13. Half Clown, Half Skeleton
Source: @alexyamayoral
Can’t decide between wearing skeleton or clown makeup? If that’s the case, why not try both? You could end up with a unique look like this one.
The makeup artist has created bright and beautiful eye makeup. For the rest of her face, one side has skeletal features and the other side has a clown design.
I love this combination of two classic Halloween characters.
14. Batman Inspired Makeup
Source: @tijerarayemua
Perhaps you’d rather be the hero than the villain this Halloween? If so, this idea could be just perfect for you. This makeup artist has created a glam Batman look.
She has gold, sparkly eyes and red lips. The look is completed with the iconic Batman mask. This is such a cool look, and you can recreate this or pick any superhero mask you like.
15. Pretty Skull Makeup Idea
Source: @luisacristinamua
Next up, we have another skeleton makeup idea. This one features pretty patterns and a bright, beautiful design on her chin too.
Makeup like this will definitely take some practice, but the final result will be so worth it. Recreate this look or try a similar design in any colors you prefer. You could even add a floral headband to complete the look.
16. Glam Kitty
Source: @giuliannaa
But what about a glam kitty? It’s a totally stunning look, right? And the even better news is that these pretty and easy Halloween makeup looks take just a few minutes.
Most of us have something black in our closets we can fall back on, so it gives you the perfect last-minute Halloween costume. You know, for when you’ve left everything to the last minute like so many of us do.
17. White Skull Makeup with Red Rhinestones
Source: @rastalien_makeup
Coming up next, we have another white skull makeup concept. The makeup artist has crafted a classic sugar skull design, and the look is completed with red rhinestones.
This is a pretty and spooky makeup look that would suit everyone. You can recreate the red and white makeup or use crystals in any color you like.
18. Fox
Source: @promisetamang
And if being catty isn’t your vibe, how about getting foxy instead? This would be the cutest costume for a good trick or treating session, for big kids and little kids alike.
19. Creepy Doll Mask Makeup Idea
Source: @luisacristinamua
Next on the list, we have a very creepy concept. This makeup artist has created a white doll mask on her face. Even though the makeup is pretty, it’s still a little scary too.
Something like this would be perfect for a party, and it would be fairly simple to recreate. You can try similar makeup to this or come up with your own doll mask design.
20. Black & White Look
Source: @tanlehoux
And now for the most detailed kitty of them all, the black and white kitty. It’s a little bit spooky, a little bit cute, and a whole lot of awesome. For this one, you’ll have to think a little outside the box.
Forget everything you’ve learned about how you *should* do your eyebrows, and do them a bit differently instead. The goal is to make your makeup as big and bold as you possibly can. It’s Halloween, after all.
21. Mermaid Makeup
Source: @monicarosemua
Who doesn’t want to be a mermaid? We all want to be mermaids. With makeup like this, you too can be a mermaid for Halloween this year.
If you want a simple way to recreate this look, here’s a fantastic tip. A pair of fishnet tights or stockings can be held over your face, and then makeup can be applied over the top.
When you take off the stockings or tights, they will have made a stencil effect, much like what you can see here. What a great idea, right? We suggest that you get practicing right away.
22. Gangster Clown
Source: @yadeemua
Another popular look to try this Halloween is the gangster clown. We’re big fans of gangster clown makeup because it can be as simple or as detailed as you want.
You can also keep your eye makeup pretty and glam too. Here is a great example of the gangster clown. Her eyes look gorgeous and the design around her mouth looks so cool.
23. Creepy and Chic Halloween Makeup
Source: @lamahbilal
The next makeup look is both creepy and chic. This look features an elegant, white skeleton design. She also has beautiful eye makeup. This makeup is easy to create and easy to wear.
It would be perfect for any last-minute events. You can keep it simple like this or you could make it scarier with some Halloween contact lenses.
24. Here, Kitty, Kitty!
Source: @nicoleguerriero
Accessories are so important for nailing your pretty and easy Halloween makeup looks, just like these kitty-ears. I think they’re perfect, and pretty adorable too. What do you think?
Even if you only have a short amount of time to get your makeup look right, the ears will instantly help stop people from asking, “Oh, so what are you supposed to be tonight?”
Plus, it’s any excuse to buy more accessories. And I really need these ears.
25. Hot Kitty
Source: @j_make_up
Black cats aren’t always seen as bad luck, though. In some places, black cats were thought to bring good luck.
Japan, for example, believes that black cats are bringers of good luck, and in Britain, they’re believed to bring wealth. Plus, we all know about the Ancient Egyptians, they loved their feline friends.
We love this feline-themed makeup, a brilliant idea when you’re looking for pretty and easy Halloween makeup looks.
26. Black & Gold Cheetah
Source: @jadedeacon
When you’re trying to get the perfect cat-eye with your black eyeliner, there’s a great trick you can use. I’m full of great tricks today!
Draw the outside of the kitten-flick first, and then fill it in. It’s as simple as that. First, apply the flicks from the outer corner of your eye towards the edge of your eyebrow, and then draw the liner on the lid itself.
Once you have that basic shape, the rest will come much more easily.
27. Beautiful Cat
Source: @beautydesignsbydenise
In Japan, it’s believed that a single woman should always have a feline companion, not just for Halloween but for life.
Owning a cat would supposedly make you more attractive to handsome men, men who could be potential new suitors. With makeup like this, I would imagine half the potential new suitors at the party will be interested. Wouldn’t you be?
28. Simple and Scary Spider Makeup
Source: @satyress
The next idea is another simple look, and it’s one of my personal favorites! This artist has kept her makeup pretty and stylish, like something you would wear every day, but she has added spider legs to one of her eyes!
As you can see, the spider legs look so unique and a little bit scary too. This is an awesome idea, and you can recreate this or wear the legs with any makeup. Maybe go for darker lip and eye colors since it is Halloween.
29. Glam Joker Inspired Makeup
Source: @aimebbyyy
The Joker has inspired so many makeup looks. Next, I have a more unique idea to show you. Here we have a glam version of the Joker.
She has pretty eye makeup and slightly smudged lips to create that classic joker smile. This is a seriously awesome idea, and it will make you stand out from the crowd this Halloween.
30. Cute Scarecrow Makeup
Source: @dracvlina
Earlier I shared a scarecrow makeup idea, and if you liked that one, then you should definitely check this one out too. This version of the scarecrow is bright and pretty.
The makeup uses a vibrant pink color and has a little sparkle as well. By using pink and glitter, you create a look that is more cute than scary. I absolutely love this idea.
31. Purrr Purrr Purrr
Source: @glambymeli
When you’re wearing bright and bold eyeshadow colors like the ones found in pretty and easy Halloween makeup looks like this one, you need to know how to make them really pop.
I have a great trick to share with you for that. Before you apply any color or shadow to your eyelids, cover the entire lid with a white eyeliner pencil first.
The white base will make any color you apply over it shine so brightly. Think of it like adding shadow to a completely blank white canvas.
32. Colorful Sugar Skull Inspired Makeup
Source: @natashajanewood
If you’re a fan of sugar skull makeup, then you need to see this next look. The design is beautiful and the makeup artist has used some stunning colors too.
We love this makeup because it has a floral vibe and the brighter colors are so unusual. A look like this will be stunning on anyone. You can recreate this or you can try a simpler version.
33. Pennywise the Clown
Source: @kerminaxtadros
IT is one of the scariest books and movies out there. This next idea features makeup inspired by the clown Pennywise who appears in the story. The artist has created glam eye makeup and used red to create the clown design.
There are also some red balloons, which the clown is famous for. I can’t believe that makeup inspired by an evil clown could look so adorable.
34. Black Bunny Makeup
Source: @velvetgh0st
We’ve had the white bunny, and now it’s time for the black bunny. Because they’re super cute too, right? This look is so simple, great for those who don’t want to wear tons of makeup on Halloween.
We all know how tough it is to keep layers of makeup in place when you’re hot, dancing, and enjoying a few drinks. You’ll need a lighter shade of foundation for the base, and a pretty pastel pink for the lips.
If you don’t have the right lip product on hand, you can use one of those pastel pink eyeshadows you never touch in your palette. Dab some on your lips and you’ll recreate that beautiful shade.
Once you’re done with that, brown streaks and smudges will create the fur effect around the edges of your face, and a black eyeliner can add the nose and the dots on your cheeks. Cute, right?
35. Simple Cheetah Makeup
Source: @theweekendgypsy
Cheetah or leopard print is actually much easier to recreate than you might have thought, and once you get the hang of the basics, there’s nothing you won’t be able to leopard-print.
Imagine having beautiful leopard nails to match your stunning leopard makeup. All you have to do is place a dab of that darker brown or bronze shade on your face and then grab a black or dark brown eyeliner.
You just brush the liner around the edge of the darker dab of eyeshadow, or whatever you’ve used for that original darker shade, and you have something that looks a little like this.
It’s so much easier than you thought, right?
36. Easy DIY Makeup Look
Source: @xmisslr_
I’m really loving the lips on this look. It’s a little kitty-like but also has a bit of a comic book vibe. In fact, I think it might just be the perfect combination for a pretty and easy Halloween makeup look.
Those lips are simpler to recreate than you might have first thought. Once you have that pinky-blush base, you add a black lip or eye liner pencil around the edges, giving it that comic-book outline.
A white eyeshadow can be dabbed on carefully for that glossy shine on the bottom lip, or you could use a white liquid eyeliner too. I’ve had great success with the second option.
Black eyeliner can be used for the whiskers, the faux-eyelashes, and the nose as well.
37. Unique and Artistic Bat Makeup
Source: @jwmua
Looking for makeup that is simple, unique, and a little spooky too? If that’s you, check this out. Here we have some very glam makeup complete with a bat design.
Small bats have been drawn on her cheeks and above her eyes. It is such a cool idea, and it would be great for a last-minute look.
You can find bat makeup tutorials online, and you can see what products were used for this makeup on the link below.
38. Cute White Rabbit Makeup
Source: @giuliannaa
Halloween is a time for magic, whether it’s black, white, or any other kind. And when we’re talking about magic, one thing is absolutely essential, you need yourself a fluffy white rabbit.
To make sure no rabbits are harmed during your Halloween festivities, I’d suggest dressing up as one instead. Besides, who doesn’t love a cute, fluffy white bunny?
39. Simple Skeleton Makeup with Floral Headband
Source: @makeupby_makenzie
This next makeup idea is both simple and stunning. For this look, the makeup artist has created black skull makeup with an elegant pattern. I love her eye makeup because it is smokey and glam.
If you recreate this look, try to wear a floral headband as that finishes off the makeup beautifully. You can make your own with a plain headband, some white plastic roses, and a glue gun.
40. Doll Illusion Makeup Idea
Source: @makeupby_makenzie
The next look features a super cool illusion. This makeup artist has created doll makeup. Her eyes look much bigger than they actually are, which creates that doll-like appearance.
This design is inspired by Bratz dolls, which you can stick with if you want a stylish Halloween look. If you want to be a bit scarier, then wear some contact lenses and choose darker makeup.
41. Kitty
Source: @dominique_sj
Back in Medieval times, mainly in Spain and France, it was believed that black cats brought bad luck, and if any human came near them, they’d be cursed.
In Germany around the same time, you were a bit luckier because you’d only be cursed if the black cat in question walked in front of you from left to right.
I think these poor black kitties get way too much of a bad rap, so I’ve brought you a super cute kitty to help turn things around. Someone’s got to stand up for the little guys!
42. Reindeer Makeup
Source: @jadedeacon
A reindeer isn’t exactly what you’d think of as a Halloween-themed look, but this one is a little bit clown-esque, if a reindeer could look clown-esque, of course!
Plus, it gives you plenty of practice for those Christmas makeup looks you’re trying to perfect. It’s cute, pretty, and easy, so technically it checks all the right boxes.
You can also still rock your favorite killer eye makeup, which instantly makes it a winner in my book.
43. Sunflower Scarecrow Makeup with Sparkle
Source: @hallayahsade
Scarecrows are also one of the must-have costumes for Halloween. This next idea shows you how to wear scarecrow makeup in style. Her eyes are very glam and there is a cute sunflower design on her nose and one eye too.
This is a gorgeous makeup look that will suit everyone.
