There are few pieces of clothing I love more than a good pair of knee-high boots. I look forward to pulling all of mine out when the weather cools off each year, and they are currently on my shopping list.
They can be mixed and matched with just about anything and will still result in a put-together look. You can dress them up or down, they’re comfortable, and they go with pretty much everything.
Here, I’m sharing a handful of ways you can style these “it girl” shoes.
1. Leather mini skirt, tight green long sleeve, and knee-high platform boots
Okay, I am so here for this look. It’s giving me major ‘90s vibes in the best way possible! If you were a fan of Bratz dolls, you will absolutely love this outfit. It’s built around some amazing black platform knee-high boots paired with a black leather mini skirt.
Add a tight green long-sleeve top and a cute little black purse, and the look is complete. I think this would be the perfect outfit for a night out.
I know it’s not the warmest option here, but if you want to make it a bit cozier, you could easily wear some pantyhose or throw on a black pleather coat.
Another idea is to wear some long fuzzy socks underneath the boots. That way, you don’t add any visible layers to your super cute outfit.
2. A white top, maxi tan cardigan, jeans, and knee-high lace-up boots
I was curious about the difference between combat boots and lace-up boots, and it turns out that while all combat boots are lace-ups, the reverse isn’t true.
For example, the lace-up boots in this look have a two-inch heel, which means they are definitely not combat boots because of their different soles.
I love how she styled them so beautifully with dark skinny jeans and a white cotton top. The whole look is pulled together with a long, tan cardigan that nearly touches the floor.
It’s hard to tell if the top is long or short-sleeved from the picture, but that’s a detail you can totally decide on for yourself when you recreate this look.
3. Tan sweater dress and white, knee-high cowboy boots
I’ll be honest, I’m not usually the biggest fan of cowboy boots. Maybe it’s because I’m on the shorter side, and I worry that knee-high cowboy boots might make me look even shorter.
But I have to say, I really, really like this outfit. It definitely helps that the sweater dress hits just above the knees, which can create the illusion of longer legs for a petite frame.
If you ask me, this is hands-down the perfect fall outfit. I just love the simplicity of it, from the color and material of the dress to the length of the boots. You could even add a hat for a more autumnal feel.
The model isn’t carrying a bag, but I would for sure add a cross-body to give the look a little more structure.
4. Black hat, black turtle neck, black coat (cinched), and knee-high combat boots
I don’t typically wear combat boots in my everyday life, but I seriously can’t get enough of them in this all-black ensemble.
I mean, everything from the black hat and black turtle neck to the cinched black coat with its black-and-gold belt is just perfection. The boots in this outfit aren’t quite knee-high, but they are close enough!
The model in the photo also appears to be wearing black Gucci pantyhose, which I think is such a nice touch to add more dimension to the look. If you’re like me and on a budget, I have a good feeling that any non-designer pantyhose would work just as well.
5. Black dress, jean jacket, and knee-high suede boots
Let’s start with something simple! This outfit is so casual and chic, built around a black mini dress and a long jean jacket.
Even though the photo shows a longer jacket, my fashion sense tells me that a short or regular-length one would create a very similar vibe.
The knee-high boots play their part perfectly here. They blend right into the casual feel of the outfit without standing out too much.
At the same time, they add that little touch of sexiness by showing a peek of skin between the dress and the boots.
What I love most about this outfit is that you could wear it all year. If you live somewhere with mild summers or winters, this could easily be your go-to look.
You could also think about swapping the jacket color for something that feels more seasonal.
6. White button-up, shorts, and knee-high cowboy boots
I totally grew up in a time and place where pairing Ugg boots with jean shorts was the look. Now, that same generation has grown up and loves to wear jean shorts with knee-high cowboy boots.
Just like in the outfit pictured, you’ll want to make sure your look feels cohesive. This isn’t the time to take big risks, in my opinion. A pair of denim shorts, especially ones that are a little distressed or have a worn-in feel, are a great choice for your bottoms.
Also, your button-up doesn’t have to be fully buttoned. You could wear it open over a tube top or a crop tank, letting it act as a light jacket. I’d finish the look by accessorizing with a cowboy-style belt and a country-inspired satchel.
7. A sheer long sleeve dress and knee-high wedge boots
I spotted these boots on Pinterest and I just have to say, they are so unbelievably chic. They have an almost artistic quality that really elevates the simple green dress.
Even though the boots are just plain black, they give off such an elegant vibe. Honestly, they might just be my favorite pair in this entire roundup of knee-high boot outfits. T
heir simplicity means they would work with any outfit, for any season, and for any occasion.
8. Jeans, a turtle neck, coat, and knee-high leather boots
Is anyone else getting major equestrian vibes? This whole look reminds me of that culture, but in the best way possible. It has a professional equestrian feel that I think is so pretty and preppy, and it’s a style almost anyone can pull off.
In this photo, the model is carrying a Louis Vuitton bag across her chest like a cross-body. Her base layer consists of dark jeans.
She’s also wearing a tan turtleneck that perfectly complements her chic coat. To be honest, I think a monochromatic version of this outfit would be the absolute best.
And if you’re not sure about pulling off a tan-on-tan look, let me be your personal cheerleader: You totally can!
Just be sure to go with skinny jeans so you don’t have any trouble tucking them into your boots.
9. White long sleeve midi skirt dress, tan coat, and knee-high heel boots
Just in case you didn’t know, a midi skirt falls to just below your knees, which sets it apart from a mini or maxi skirt.
Of course, you can definitely wear a long skirt or dress with knee-high boots, but you wouldn’t want to hide your adorable boots, right? That’s why midi skirts are such a great compromise!
In this picture, the model is rocking some amazing snakeskin boots, which add a fun pop of color and style to an otherwise classic outfit.
She keeps the rest of her accessories neutral, including black sunglasses and a dark brown Louis Vuitton bag. If you want to try this look yourself, just stick with neutral colors!
