40 Unique Halloween Makeup Ideas Inspired by Instagram

Creative split-face Halloween makeup: colorful clown on one side, glamorous skull on the other.

We tend to think of Halloween as “costume season,” and may look forward to picking out a fun new outfit.

But for those who either need or prefer a makeup-focused alternative to a full costume, here are a few suggestions for unique looks (that won’t require hours of searching).

We have something for everyone including leopards, broken dolls, zombies and more

1. Creative Frankenstein Inspired Makeup

I am starting with a look that is such a fun version of an iconic costume. The artist absolutely nailed the classic green makeup and stitches.

But the rest of the makeup is what makes it feel so unique and bright—she went with pink and blue eye makeup and a pink lip color. I just love the combination of cute and creepy!

2. Cracked Doll Halloween Makeup

My next idea features a cracked doll face, which is a total Halloween favorite. I absolutely love this one because the eye makeup is just as amazing as the cracked feature.

There are so many tutorials online that can help you get that broken look. You can also check out the products the artist used on her page.

I think a similar look would be amazing, or you could use the cracks with your own makeup design.

3. Pop Art & Pin-Up Zombie

Makeup inspired by pop art is so popular for Halloween. Looks like this one usually involve bright colors and designs that have a cartoonish or comic book feel.

Here we have such a brilliant example of using pop art for a zombie look. She used striking blue and purple with a skeletal design. I love that the artist added a vintage pin-up twist, but you could totally stick to a gory zombie if that’s more your style.

If you want to recreate this look for Halloween, we recommend you follow the steps from the YouTube tutorial below.

6. Colorful Pop Art Zombie

How fun is this next idea? It is so unique and absolutely perfect for those who love zombies! The makeup artist created a pop art zombie look.

This version is so different from the zombie makeup we usually see because instead of being dark and bloody, it’s bright and colorful. It still has those creepy elements, though, like the brain and teeth design.

My next idea features makeup inspired by the Bride of Frankenstein. The artist created stitches and has the classic hair. I think this would be so awesome for a Halloween party.

Half-and-half makeup designs are so popular for Halloween because you get two looks in one! This one features a pumpkin design with a normal face.

I love this one because it actually looks like the skin is peeling off. You could recreate something similar to this, use different Halloween makeup, or even wear darker makeup on the normal side of your face.
